Geophysics Services for Infrastructure and Construction Projects

Visualise the subsoil to control risks

Ground insight that drives safer, smarter decisions

Sixense Oceania provides geophysics services that help infrastructure and construction teams understand subsurface conditions with confidence. Through advanced geophysical imaging, we support better decision‑making by reducing uncertainty and managing ground‑related risk.

Our services cover geophysical investigations, 3D subsurface imaging and monitoring solutions that provide a clear view of the ground beneath your site. These insights support safer construction, improved design outcomes and greater control throughout the project lifecycle.

With more than 25 years of experience and a strong presence across Australia and New Zealand, our local teams deliver fast mobilisation and tailored solutions. We combine established geophysical methods with patented technologies such as Cyljet and Sissterra, backed by global R&D and specialist equipment, to address complex ground conditions with clarity and confidence.

Conventional Geophysics

Optimised geophysical solutions, from data acquisition to expert analysis

Sixense Oceania applies conventional geophysical methods to help clients understand subsurface conditions and manage ground‑related risk. Our expertise in geology and applied geophysics enables us to support projects from survey design and data collection through to expert analysis and reporting.

We help clients:

  • Visualise subsurface conditions to support safer design and construction decisions
  • Improve safety for people and assets by identifying ground‑related constraints early
  • Characterise complex ground environments, including urban, mountainous, coastal and riverine settings, as well as areas with restricted access

Our conventional geophysics services are delivered by experienced specialists and tailored to the specific constraints, risks and objectives of each project.

Cyljet – optimising jet grouting quality control

A patented Sixense geophysics solution for non‑destructive assessment of jet grouting works.

Cyljet® is a patented Sixense geophysical method designed to support the optimisation and quality control of jet grouting works. Based on the Electric Cylinder principle, it enables non‑destructive, in‑situ 3D investigation of jet grouting columns without the need for excavation.

The method uses a multi‑filament cable with embedded electrodes installed within the column. By measuring and processing electrical potential differences, Cyljet® provides a clear representation of the shape and geometry of injected columns, supporting expert analysis of grouting outcomes during both test phases and active works.

Why use Cyljet?

  • Optimises injection parameters, helping reduce material use and project costs
  • Non‑destructive and excavation‑free, minimising disruption on site
  • Fast turnaround, with results typically delivered in under 48 hours
  • Proven and reliable, with more than 4,000 columns assessed worldwide
  • Supports quality control during test plots and live construction phases

Cyljet is particularly suited to constrained, sensitive or high‑risk environments where conventional verification methods are impractical.

Sissterra – passive seismic imaging for underground risk management

A non‑intrusive geophysics solution for subsurface imaging, even in hard‑to‑access environments

Sissterra® is a turnkey passive seismic geophysics solution that uses ambient noise generated by human activity to build detailed 2D and 3D subsurface images. The method enables continuous observation of subsurface conditions and their evolution over time, without disrupting site operations.

Sixense Oceania manages the full Sissterra® process, from initial scoping through to expert analysis and decision‑support outputs. This approach helps project teams improve geological understanding and manage underground risk early, particularly on complex or constrained sites.

Our scope typically includes:

  • Definition of project objectives and acquisition parameters
  • Passive seismic data acquisition, processing and visualisation (2D and 3D)
  • Diagnostics and risk assessment to support informed decision‑making

Key benefits of Sissterra:

  • Non‑intrusive and passive, with no impact on ongoing site activities
  • Improves geological models, supporting better management of ground‑related risk
  • Supports safer underground works through early identification of potential constraints
  • Optimises ground treatment strategies by clearly identifying target zones
  • Well suited to complex sites, including dense urban areas and hard‑to‑access terrain
  • Robust and field‑proven, supported by advanced seismic processing expertise

Originating from oil and gas and academic research, Sissterra has been adapted by Sixense for civil engineering and infrastructure applications.
